You know something? I have a confession to make - I like processed food. It's my dirty little secret. Kraft Dinner - I'm somewhat of a conisseur. Pizza pockets - I could probably eat a box no problem. And meat? Bologna - man...it sure is tasty! Oh yes and I can't forget hot dogs...and not the gourmet, low salt, real beef ones..the cheap, no name, horse meat ones! Mmmm...boiled too! While my taste buds may be somewhat hypocritcal I don't feel guilty. I'm proud that I can savour the taste of a slow roasted duck breast and with the same buds woof down a box of KD that I added too much ketchup to. Life is good.
Cheers.

Potato, Bacon and Cheese...mmm
Sunday September 20, 2009
You ever finally try that recipe that you've always wanted to do but just never had? Not that it's too hard to do or the ingredients are too expensive - just you've never actually done it? Well, this weekend my wife and I finally made the Potato, Bacon and Cheese tart from a Micheal Smith recipe. We saw him make it on Chef At Home and immediately fell in love with the recipe. I mean, how couldn't you? It has Bacon AND Cheese AND Potato!!! Oh my!! Well, it takes over 2.5 hours to bake but is it ever worth it! The best part is that tomorrow we get to have it again...and as someone who truly appreciates leftovers I'm really lookin' forward to it. Like seriously...if I had a day planner I'd probably write it in pen that Monday I'm finishing the leftover Potato, Bacon and Cheese tart...
I'm slowly getting this blogging thing eventhough I haven't done it much...I guess I just don't have that much to say!

A Summer Weekend Wedding With Friends
September 7th, 2009
It's hard to believe that you can go almost a year or more without seeing people that you used to see everyday. Such is the case this past weekend when my wife and I got to visit with great friends that we haven't seen in over a year! We all share a common enjoyment of good food and good drink. We shared a cottage as we went to Northern NB for a mutual friend's wedding. On Sunday we had a great meal - Steak, baked (on the BBQ) potatoes and salad with dressing made on the fly with whatever was in the fridge. Both couples bought their steaks individually and cooked them to their specifications. We ate at the picnic table as a breeze blew and the sun kept us warm. The perfect meal - great food, great friends, great fun.

Supper...and rhubarb
September 1st, 2009
Tonight for supper it's grilled pork chops with a nice salad of mixed field greens, white button mushrooms, a thinly sliced radish and some blueberries which were on sale at the Superstore. I drizzled a little olive oil, balsamic vinegar, a squeeze of lime slice with some salt and pepper. It's sum friggin' good!
And now for rhubarb - I don't mean to sound mean but...I don't like rhubarb. I really don't! I even question the sanity of people who do - and I realize that that could be a large amount of folks :0 It's just gross...just yuck. As I type this there's a TV cook using it in a recipe...yuck! It's just wrong. Ugh...rhubarb...blech....
